About Serengeti National Park
Located in northern Tanzania and bordering Kenya's Maasai Mara, Serengeti National Park is a vast ecosystem teeming with wildlife. Known globally for the Great Migration, over two million wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles thunder across the plains in search of water and grazing, often braving crocodile-filled rivers. The word "Serengeti" means "endless plains" in Maasai, and the park lives up to its name with open landscapes, acacia-dotted savannahs, and an abundance of predators. Whether during the migration or the quieter green seasons, Serengeti offers exceptional game drives, hot air balloon safaris, and luxurious tented camps.
My Experience
Waking up in a tented suite at Singita Mara River Camp, I watched elephants gather at the water’s edge at sunrise. Game drives revealed prides of lions and a thrilling river crossing with wildebeest leaping into the Mara. At Four Seasons Safari Lodge, the infinity pool overlooked a waterhole where giraffes and elephants gathered in the afternoon heat. The bush breakfasts and Maasai-guided walks made me feel both humbled and exhilarated.
