About Chennai
Chennai is a city where tradition meets modernity. Known for its classical music, Bharatanatyam dance, sprawling beaches, and centuries-old temples, it’s also home to bustling silk markets and modern shopping malls. From sipping strong filter coffee to exploring UNESCO sites nearby, Chennai offers travellers a journey that is both spiritual and contemporary.
My Experience
During my 5-day stay in Chennai, I experienced a delightful mix of culture, heritage, shopping, and vegetarian dining. My journey began with a stroll along Marina Beach and a visit to Santhome Cathedral Basilica. Over the next days, I admired Dravidian temple architecture at Kapaleeshwarar and Parthasarathy temples, explored ancient bronzes at the Government Museum, and enjoyed a mesmerising Bharatanatyam recital.
A day trip to Mahabalipuram allowed me to witness UNESCO monuments before unwinding at Elliot’s Beach. I immersed myself in shopping at T. Nagar’s saree stores and modern malls, and finally, wrapped up with a spiritual morning at Vadapalani Temple and a sunset at Broken Bridge. Vegetarian food was a highlight throughout—whether indulging in legendary sambar idlis, authentic Tamil thalis, or fine Italian dining at luxury hotels.
