About Kaziranga
Kaziranga National Park is one of India’s most celebrated wildlife sanctuaries, located in Assam. Famous for the largest population of the endangered one-horned rhinoceros, the park is also home to elephants, tigers, swamp deer, wild buffalo, and an incredible variety of birdlife. Beyond the safaris, travellers can indulge in Assamese cultural experiences such as traditional cuisine, silk and natural dye demonstrations, and tea tasting sessions. Kaziranga offers a rare combination of thrilling wildlife encounters and deep cultural immersion.
My Experience
During my journey to Kaziranga, I was immediately struck by the charm of Assam’s countryside. The trip began with a warm welcome in Guwahati, followed by a scenic drive to Kaziranga. Staying at Iora, The Retreat, made the experience even more memorable with its excellent hospitality and serene setting. The jeep safaris through the Central and Western ranges were the highlight, offering close encounters with rhinos, elephants, and exotic birds. The elephant safari was an unforgettable way to explore the grasslands at sunrise. Assamese cuisine and cultural showcases enriched the trip, especially the cooking demonstration and the tea-tasting session. Ending the evenings with entertainment and Sufi music made the trip both rejuvenating and soulful.
