About Madurai
Madurai, one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, is often referred to as the ‘Athens of the East.’ It is famed for the majestic Meenakshi Amman Temple, a marvel of colour, carvings, and culture. Alongside its sacred spaces, Madurai offers palatial architecture like Thirumalai Nayakkar Mahal, thought-provoking museums such as the Gandhi Memorial, and vibrant markets like Puthu Mandapam. Whether you’re a pilgrim or a culture lover, Madurai promises soul-stirring experiences.
My Experience
The evening darshan at Meenakshi Temple was a spiritual and visual treat – the glowing lamps, chants, and carvings left me awestruck. Walking through the local markets and tasting traditional filter coffee at Murugan Idli Shop made me feel deeply connected to Tamil culture.
