About Almaty
Explore the diverse charm of southern and eastern Kazakhstan — from the relaxed, park-filled city of Shymkent, to the pristine landscapes of Sayram-Ugam National Park, and the vibrant, mountain-fringed metropolis of Almaty. Shymkent offers a glimpse into Kazakh life with its bustling bazaars and leafy avenues, while Sayram-Ugam provides a peaceful escape into nature and history. Almaty, the cultural heart of the country, blends modern living with outdoor adventure, offering everything from trendy cafés to alpine lakes and canyons.
My Experience
Our journey began in Shymkent, where we wandered through peaceful parks, bartered at the Central Bazaar, and enjoyed hearty Kazakh cuisine. A day trip to Sayram-Ugam National Park was a highlight—lush trails, waterfalls, and breathtaking views made it unforgettable, with a quick stop at historic Sayram town adding cultural depth. We ended in Almaty, where we admired Zenkov Cathedral, rode the cable car to Kok Tobe Hill, and took in the serene beauty of Big Almaty Lake. The contrast between city buzz and nature’s calm made for a truly memorable trip.
