About Athens
Athens, the capital of Greece, stands as a grand fusion of ancient landmarks and contemporary experiences. Its historic marvels like the Acropolis and Temple of Olympian Zeus offer a peek into classical glory, while neighbourhoods like Plaka and Monastiraki hum with artisanal charm, flea markets, and street food. With an emerging plant-based culinary scene and rooftop bars boasting sunset views, Athens delivers both nostalgia and novelty for modern travellers.
My Experience
We arrived in Athens on September 9 and checked into a luxurious hotel. Over the next three days, we explored the Acropolis and its museum, strolled through the winding streets of Plaka and Anafiotika, and marvelled at the Temple of Olympian Zeus. Our evenings were spent watching sunsets from Mount Lycabettus and enjoying rooftop dinners. The vegetarian dining scene was surprisingly delightful—especially at Zillers Roof Garden and the Michelin-starred Delta. Local cafés like Avocado and Happy Blender offered energising breakfasts and smoothies, while bars like The Clumsies and Baba au Rum kept the nights vibrant.
